And the drifting continues

by Kyle Tomita on Sat, Jul 14th, 2012 | General, Suspension, Tuning

You can definitely tell we are in the middle of  drift season.  Coming up next week is Formula Drift Seattle Round 5 at Evergreen Speedway.  It is the major drifting event in the Northwest.

Since the Achilles Radial drift cars were dropped off a few weeks ago, we have been working on many drift cars and getting them ready for events.

PARC Open Drift 7-1-2012 - Kyle Pollard 048

Kyle Pollard got his SR powered S13 out to a grassroots drifting event at Pat's Acres Racing Complex (PARC) a few weeks ago.

Today was a Saturday and we don't usually work, but there were several cars we needed to get ready for another grassroots event at PARC.

Andrew Coomes will be testing out his LS powered Nissan S13.  After returning from FD New Jersey, Brian Hartsock made some adjustments to Andrew's suspension setup.  Brian installed a new set of Ikeya Formula front lower control arms and Powered By Max offset tie rod to rack spacer.  This setup was used to give Andrew more steering angle and prevent it from going over center.  With the new suspension parts and adjustments, the car was put on the alignment rack to fine tune the setup.

While Brian was working on Andrew's suspension, Jason Oefelein sent most of the day on the dyno.  He had a few cars to tune.  The first car on the dyno was Jeremy Richter's 1JZ powered S13 with a Garrett GT4088 turbo.  The 1JZ was recently swapped in and just needed a tune to be ready to drift tomorrow at PARC.

After Jeremy's car was tuned, it was time to tune Nik's KA-T powered S13.  This setup put down 412 whp and 343 ft-lbs of torque.  We unfortunately did not record a video of the dyno run so here is a photo from the last time it was on the dyno.

On Friday, Roland Gallagher brought down his Formula D Nissan S13 to be tuned.  He changed a few things since the last time it was here to be tuned before FD Long Beach.  Roland's S13 is powered by a SR20 with 364 cams and a Garrett T3/T04e turbo.  After Jason Oefelein tuned this setup with Apexi PowerFC, it put down 450 whp and 338 ft-lbs of torque.  Here is the video of dyno run,

While all this tuning and work was going on, David and Gert brought down the Retaks Racing LS240 driven by Ryan Tuerck in the Formula Drift Championship Series.

After the dyno runs, Jason, David, and Brian talked about the car and the plans to get it ready for Formula D Seattle.  We will be down at PARC tomorrow for some grassroots drifting to help support Andrew Coomes and other local drifters.  Ryan Tuerck will also be making an appearance to drift Andrew Coomes' LS240.  We are excited for tomorrow and hope to  see you there.
